Year 5 and 6 2025 - 2026

Welcome to our Class Page

This year we cannot wait to develop our friendships; learn about different topics; share amazing experiences and most of all, perform our end of year class production - though we do not know yet what we are going to do.

Our teacher is: Mrs Waller

Our teaching assistants are: Mrs Langbridge and Mrs Petkovic.

We now know what we are doing for our end of year production in July 2027: Oliver Twist. We look forward to learning our lines, learning new songs and performing in front of our family and friends.

Malvern Outdoor Centre:

Year 6 Residential May 2026

We enjoyed our lunch in the chalet as it was quite cold and drizzling outside.

Our second activity today was the Quad Pole. We took it in turns to climb the pole and try and stand on top of the small, wooden platform. This was harder and wobblier than it looked. We even tried to get two of us on there.

Our third activity today was the High Bridges. The Indiana Jones Bridge was particularly scary but we all managed to have a go at some of these.

We had a delicious evening meal of sausage or vegetable pasta, jacket potato and then chocolate cake and chocolate sauce. After this we completed our final activity which was archery. We have some super Robin Hoods among us.

We are looking forward to the activities tomorrow. We are heading off site to Tank Quarry to have a go at abseiling down Malvern Quarry cliff face in the morning. In the afternoon we are climbing towers back at the centre and doing the King Swing. In the evening it is zip wire. 

Day 2:  Tuesday 19th May 2026

We were all awake and dressed by 7:30 this morning and enjoyed a delicious breakfast of cereal, scrambled eggs and beans on toast. We then made our sandwiches and packed lunch ready to eat later on. Our first activity was off site at Tank Quarry. The cliff face was surprisingly big but we worked hard to overcome our fears of abseiling down.

Our second activity today was the Climbing Towers. The children were amazingly confident, quick and skilful in climbing four different walls, helping and encouraging each other all the way. Albie successfully reached the top platform and stood at the top.

After the Climbing Towers we went on the King Swing. This was such fun for us all. We all overcame our fears of freefall swinging and absolutely loved it.

Autumn 1 - Class Curriculum Letter and Knowledge Organisers

Hockey

This half term Ben from Dyson Perrins C.E High School has come into school to teach our class different hockey skills to improve our technique and understanding of the game. We have loved our hockey lessons.

Play Leaders

During the early part of the Autumn Term, Mrs Tinsdale came into school to teach our class how to be Play Leaders. She showed us some games and activities which we could teach the other children in the school during break times and lunch times. We then decided if we would like to have this responsibility as School Play Leaders.

European Day of Languages

On Friday 26th September 2025, we celebrated European Day of Languages. We chose the country of Spain and learned many different things. We learned about some of the physical and human features of Spain; we listened to Spanish music; we tasted some delicious, traditional Spanish food; we learned some Spanish vocabulary and we dressed up in the colours of the Spanish Flag. We had a fantastic afternoon.

Physical Computing in Year 5 and 6 Autumn 2024

We have been working hard in Year 5 and 6 developing our knowledge of Crumble Kits. We have designed our own models regarding World War 2, made the models from reclaimed materials, fitted in our physical computing elements (including motors and lights), programmed our microcontrollers and then tested them out!

Spring Term

Happy New Year to you all!

We cannot believe it is January 2024 but we are all looking forward to an exciting term, full of new learning; new opportunities and continued health and happiness.

This term we will be learning about South America in Geography; Forces in Science and The Muslim Faith in RE.

Y5/6 Christmas Fayre

On Tuesday 19th December, our class organised and held a Christmas Fayre to raise money for Acorns Children's Hospice. We are helping our former pupil, Matthew Bladen, raise money for this worthwhile charity.

He is rowing across the Atlantic Ocean during the Christmas period - 3000 miles in 30 days.

We had great fun running the tombola; a raffle; Guess How Many Chocolates in a Jar; Guess the Name of the Teddy; Lucky Dip; Cake Stall; Home-Made Decorations etc.

All the parents and children who came had lots of fun. 

We will let you know how much we raised as soon as possible.

Show Off Afternoon

On Friday 15th December 2023, we showed our families the work which we have learned about this half term. 

We showed off our English books and all the writing we have completed on Ancient Greek Myths; our history books and art work linked to Ancient Greece; our 2D and 3D Greek pots and scary Medusa Masks.

We loved showing our families all the work which we have done that we are very proud of.

Greek Pots

As part of our history work on Ancient Greek, we have learned about the importance of pots. They had many different uses and they were painted with pictures and images of The Olympic Games; Everyday Lives; Greek Myths and War. 

We drew 2D pots and designed and made 3D clay pots, which we then painted.

Year 5 and 6:    2022 - 2023

This year our teachers are Mrs Waller (who teaches Wednesday - Friday) and Mrs Benton (who teaches Monday and Tuesday).

We also have  Mrs Langbridge and Mrs Robinson who help us in class. 

We are looking forward to learning more in lessons; seeing our friends; making new friendships and enjoying our school life. We hope you enjoy reading about what we do and looking at the photographs.

Beowulf: Performing our Eulogies.

This half term we have been reading an adaptation of the Anglo-Saxon poem, Beowulf. As a result of reading this story, and finding out the sad ending that Beowulf is defeated in battle by the dragon, the children planned, wrote and delivered eulogies in remembrance of one of the great Anglo-Saxon warriors. We hope you enjoy listening to some of our performances.

We will be adding more over the next few days.
