Developing and maintaining the very best practice in safeguarding is of highest priority for us as a school.
“This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment”
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everybody’s responsibility.
Safeguarding children is also about child protection. This means the variety of activities that take place to protect children who may be at risk of significant harm due to emotional, physical or sexual abuse or neglect.
If you have reason to believe that a child or young person is at immediate risk from harm contact the Police on 999.
If you have any concerns about a particular child or young person and feel that they may be in need of protection or safeguarding members of the public should contact the Family Front Door on 01905 822666 from Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm, Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
The NSPCC provide a free 24 hour service, on 0808 800 5000 which provides counselling, information and advice to anyone concerned about a child at risk of abuse.
Worcestershire County Council has a duty to ensure that every child in Worcestershire is safe from harm and neglect. The Council’s Safeguarding and Services to Children and Young People has lead responsibility for carrying out this duty.
At Broadwas CE VA Primary School Alison Northover is the ‘Designated Safeguarding Lead’ for safeguarding children. Safeguarding is monitored by the Governing Body.
Please note that sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns are discussed with parents/carers first – unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
