Welcome to Week three of the second half of the Summer Term. This week our topic focus will be The Animal Kingdom – Under the Sea. Below you will find English and Maths as well as Topic, PE and PSHE ideas for the week. Remember that you do not have to complete all of the tasks below. Work at a pace that suits your child, take regular breaks and enjoy the learning!

Monday

Good Morning! Today the focus is on Maths. Year 1 will be revisiting the money topic and will be adding different amounts together. The Year 2 children will be solving addition and subtraction word problems. The shorter English activity for today is a reading comprehension. Children in Year 1 should complete the sheets marked with * and the children in Year 2 should complete the sheets marked ***.   There are also PE activities for you to do throughout the week.

Tuesday

Good Morning! Today the focus is on English work. Year 1 will be continuing their work on the Superhero ABC and Year 2 will be reading a poem called ‘The Glamdrack’ and identifying prepositional phrases. There are is a Maths Mystery Game for Year 2 and Year 1 children should use the activities in Education City that have been set for them. Everyone can have a go at the Times Tables Rock Stars!

Wednesday

Good Morning! Today the focus is on Maths. Year 1 will continue learning about money and will be finding the difference between prices. Today the Year 2 children will be adding two-digit numbers using partitioning. The shorter English task for today is another picture prompt for story writing called ‘The Dangerous Pet’.

Thursday

Good Morning! Today the focus is on English work. Year 1 will continue to work on the text ‘Superhero ABC’ and will be writing dialogue. Year 2 will be reading the poem called ‘The Alien’, learning about similes and writing two paragraphs about an alien. There are My Maths activities for Year 2 and Year 1 children should use the activities in Education City that have been set for them. Everyone can have a go at the Times Tables Rock Stars! At 11am, the Duchess of Cambridge will lead an online assembly where she will speak about the importance of mental wellbeing among children. The theme of the Duchess’ assembly is ‘spread a little kindness’.

Friday

Good Morning! Today the focus is on Maths. Year 1 will continue learning about money and revise how to calculate change. Today the Year 2 children will be learning about adding 2-digit numbers by partitioning and counting on. The shorter task for today is a PSHE activity.
