Week beginning 8th June 2020

Welcome to Week two of the second half of the Summer Term. This week our topic focus will be The Animal Kingdom – David Attenborough and Climate Change! Below you will find English and Maths as well as Topic and PE ideas for the week. Remember that you do not have to complete all of the tasks below. Work at a pace that suits your child, take regular breaks and enjoy the learning!

Monday

Good Morning! Today the focus is on English. Year 1 work will be based on the Guided Reader ‘Superheroes – All Sorts’. Year 2 work will be based on the Guided Reader ‘Wild Pets’. There is a maths game called Mystery at Dragonspire Castle for year 2 and Year 1 children should use the activities in Education City that have been set for them and can try the maths challenges on the BBC Bitesize website https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z6rrn9q. Everyone can have a go at the Times Tables Rock Stars!   There are also PE activities for you to do throughout the week.

Tuesday

Good Morning! Today the focus is on Maths work. Year 1 will be learning about symmetry while year 2 will be learning about weight. When using the work from the Hamilton Trust please begin by working through the ‘Learning Reminders’ before attempting one of either the mild, hot or ‘a bit stuck’ follow up activities. There is no expectation for the children to complete all of the practice sheets. The English task today is a reading comprehension about Superheroes.   There are also PE activities for you to do throughout the week.

Wednesday

Good Morning! Today the focus is on English. Year 1 will continue their work on ‘Superheroes – All Sorts’. Year 2 will continue their work on the text ‘Wild Pets’. There are My Maths activities for year 2 as well as some maths challenges on the BBC Bitesize website https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z8ppqfr Year 1 children should use the activities in Education City that have been set for them. Everyone can have a go at the Times Tables Rock Stars!
There are also PE activities for you to do throughout the week.

Thursday

Good Morning! Today the focus is on Maths work. Year 1 will continue their work on Symmetry and Year 2 will continue their work on weight. There is no expectation for the children to complete all of the practice sheets. The English Activity is to write a story about a rat. The title is ‘Greedy’ and uses a picture as the starting point.  There are also PE activities for you to do throughout the week.

Friday

Good Morning! Today the focus is on English. Year 1 will continue their focus on Superheroes with the Superhero ABC. Year 2 will be learning about noun phrases using a text called ‘the Girl who cried … Monster!’ There are My Maths activities for year 2 and Year 1 children should use the activities in Education City that have been set for them. Everyone can have a go at the Times Tables Rock Stars!  There are also PE activities for you to do throughout the week.
