Reading at Broadwas

Reading at Broadwas Primary School

At Broadwas, we know that learning to read is a fundamental skill for life.

Throughout the Early Years and Key Stage One children are immersed in an environment rich in print. To enable children to become confident readers, we use the Read Write Inc. resources to teach phonics in a systematic way. We read books from a variety of schemes integrated with a core Oxford Reading Tree Scheme. We are keen to get children reading real books as soon as they are reading confidently, with fluency and expression. This may happen in KS1 or KS2.
