Week beginning 6th July 2020

Welcome to Week Six of the second half of the Summer Term. This week our topic focus will be 'Sensational Safari'. Below you will find English and Maths as well as Topic, PE and Wellbeing ideas for the week. Remember that you do not have to complete all of the tasks below. Work at a pace that suits your child, take regular breaks and enjoy the learning!

We miss you all and we would love to see your work! Please continue to send photographs for our Gallery. Please do get in touch should you require any help or clarification via year1@broadwas.worcs.sch.ukor year2@broadwas.worcs.sch.uk

Monday

Good morning! Today's focus is English. Think about 'the Elves and the Shoemaker' story from last week. Today you are going to make up a story about elves that have helped people. Read page 13 to help you plan your ideas. In Maths, solve the mystery of the Sports Day trophy thief!

Tuesday

Good morning! Today's focus is Maths. You are learning to add and subtract a 2-digit number and a 1-digit number (for example 12 + 7 = 19 or 45 + 3 = 48). Try Activity 1 before moving on to either Activity 2 or 3. In English, you are learning to identify and write four different types of sentences. Watch the video then select one of the three activities to complete.

Wednesday

Good morning! Today's focus is English. Read the riddle on page 17 of the booklet. Instead of Maths today, work through the Wellbeing Wednesday activity on mindful mazes. You do not need to complete all of the activities.

Thursday

Good morning! Today's focus is Maths. You are going to learn how to add and subtract two-digit numbers and tens. Go through the slideshow then chose either Activity 1 or 2 to complete before moving on to Activity 3. In English, use your knowledge of Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar to solve 'the Mystery of the Missing Medal'.

Friday

Good morning! Today's focus is English and you are going to think about your favourite memories from this year for your Record of Achievement. This is a book that contains all of your greatest achievements to date that you will have given back to you at the end of Year 6. Use the sheet below to help you plan your ideas then type up your work in neat and email them to year2@broadwas.worcs.sch.uk so we can place it in your book. In Maths, test your problem-solving skills. Each problem gets a bit more difficult, so see how many you and your family can do together!
